Beauty Tips

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.

For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed,
revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at

the end of each of your arms.

As you grow older, you will discover that you have two  hands;

one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

Mohna Lisa ~ Duchess of Doves – a beautiful mind

Heeeeeeeeeeey fans, I’m back!  Did you miss me?  Course you did! :D
Look what I have for you.  I’ve been meaning to bring these 4 beautiful creations to you for some time, and I do hope the lovely Mohna Lisa will forgive me for taking so long.  I am not going to bore you with excuses.  Let’s just get on with it because these dresses are so worth shouting, singing, yelling, screaming, heck even fantatasing about, which is what I was doing while creating these photos for my page.

The first gown I’d like to introduce to you is Duchess of Doves Candy Floss

Duchess of Doves Candy Floss

Each dress exudes sheer beauty and I was inspired to try and capture the beauty in the photographs that I took.  I have to admit that Candy Floss is my favourite.  The pink shade is delecate and tasteful and does not overpower the wearer.   Beautiful and free are the words that came to mind when I put it on.  I think I captured the way it made me feel in this photo.  I hope you enjoy wearing this dress as much as I do.

Next is Duchess of Doves Champagne

Duchess of Doves Champagne

Duchess of Doves Champagne reminded me of grace and peace, almost angelic in nature.  The back feathers and skirt are whispy and dreamy almost as if they could carry you away.   Again the shade chosen is mild.  It is  beautiful and soft and shrouds the wearer in gentleness.  Mohna really captured the luxuriousness of the dress in the textures that she chose to use. The bodice is made with a smooth satin texture which really looks amazing against the skin and she has also used gold edging to add contrast and awaken the dreamy skirt.

The next dress I want to show you is Duchess of Doves Style 2 Milk

Duchess of Doves Style 2 Milk

Duchess of Doves Style 2, as you can see, is slightly different in design in that it doesn’t have the tulle-like skirt.  You can also see that the “Duchess”  has a voile cape with a fur edged hood.  For me the woman wearing this gown portrayed a godess -like figure who is able to charm the most tempestuous of elements with her beauty and peaceful nature.
The last dress in my chosen series is Duchess of Doves Style 2 Nero

Duches of Doves Style 2 Nero

You can see for yourself the antithesis of the “Milk”the “Nero”.   Nero commands a different kind of presence, one more powerful yet still gentle.  The features are exactly the same as Milk but with gold edging and belt detail.   All of these dresses and much much more are available at the Mohna Lisa main store.

Welcome back to my Sylistic Shop Window.

I was out and about this week bargain hunting, seeking out all the goodies on offer in unusual little heard of stores to bring you all an outfit that I felt both gently welcomed the warm tones of autumn and yet stayed true to what a casual shopper might like to wear. I was instantly drawn to this lovely jacket from R.icielli that I found while browsing in the Dressing Room Blue and all kinds of ideas came flooding to my mind.

I was mesmorised by the rich tones with the button detailing which made it so interesting. The Tank top featuring the large diamond ring design on the front adds a touch of pazazz to the overall look.  I love these jeans from COCO which have the washed out, worn look which adds character to my autumn theme.  The thigh high boots are also from COCO as is  the belt.  The hat and hair, which incidentally come as one linked item feature in this year’s Hair Fair 2010 and is one of the contributions from Vanity Hair (incidentally, don’t forget to to support the cause of this Year’s Fair which is “Wigs For Kids“. On 19th September support will be shown by going hairless to show you care at the hair fair).

I completed my outfit with the Staric set from Alienbear and a cute little shopper from [[[nocc]]].

Morgane’s hair fair favorites!

Hello all,
I went to the hair fair and swam through the mollase thick lag to find some hair i would love.

I arrived on the sims with no prims at all, bald only a top and pants to be considerate of others at the fair.. please if you go to the sim, wear a hairbase if you sont want to be truly bald, remove shoes, jewelry and all. it is crazy when you have a ARC of 16 while you see others with over 3K of ARC. We don’t go there to be seen by other but to visit all the awsome hair offered in the fair. It’s possible to be primless and still look good!

Pictures at a picnic

I haven’t been posting for a while because I’ve been busy taking classes! One thing I’ve learned is that a critical skill a model needs is to be able to take a decent picture of herself. Why not just hire a photographer? Well, I think I should for real portfolio shoots. But if I paid someone every time I wanted to capture a pic of myself for blogging or to capture a moment to later post on flickr, I’d never have any Lindens to shop! Priorities people!

Talyia Tarber offers a class called Let’s Go on a Picnic through the Photography School. I just happened to be free so after reading the description of the class:

“In this class you will learn some easy photo processing tricks using an intuitive web based photo processing program as well as learn about aspect ratios. You will need to have a raw SL photo that’s been saved to your harddrive.” Being able to take a snapshot is required. This class will only be taught in voice so please have it enabled, be prepared to take notes and follow along. 🙂

I realized this was exactly what I needed. I thought I knew how to take a snapshot, so the photo processing part was what really grabbed my attention. (I have downloaded Gimp, but am slowly self-teaching. Anyone know where to take some Gimp classes?)

What I learned is that I didn’t know how to take a good snapshot –  or raw photo – as described in one of the other PS classes, “Get Ready to Shoot”. (Not sure if I should take that too but I digress). I learned what graphic settings to use, what ratio, and why I shouldn’t save it as a jpeg. I don’t think that was the main point of the class but I really appreciate Talyia and the other student’s patience as I struggled with various things (including dealing with viewer 2 deciding I no longer needed voice).

So I haven’t even gotten to the point of the class LOL or why it was called a picnic! Well it was just like a picnic because we were sitting outside on the beautiful grounds of Fashion Institute. (I’d never taken time to stroll around) As you’ll see in this pic, Talyia brought out some whimsical outdoor furniture which set the mood for fun and creativity!

picclass_004

Once we all had our raw photos, we uploaded them to Picnik. I’ve used it minimally in flickr but haven’t explored the possibilities. Talyia took us through each section and showed us the tools and by doing it along with her, I got a good idea of what kind of effects did what. My creative potential just shot up by 100 %!

Snapshot_001

I’m not sure if I’m going to post the photo I ended up with in her class because…. well… while my potential shot up, my actual is still trying to get it’s arse out of bed. But I do hope, that in the future, we will see an improvement on the pictures on my blog and flickr. In recent ones, the styling is improving but the photo quality detracts from it’s value. I’d even like to improve the pics of my friends and well yes of me and Evan.

So to all my model friends out there, I strongly recommend taking a photography class, if nothing else, to know what you don’t know you don’t know. (did you follow that?) There are so many models whose pictures are amazing – and they do it themselves. I’m not sure if they took classes or were self taught. Maybe someone can share their experience, but for those who didn’t rez here with mad skillz in graphic design or photography already consider taking a class or two from the Photography School. Then let’s compare our progress! To see what classes are coming up click here.

picclass_013

This is my before pic which doesn't give me much to work with. So I'll try the exercise once more and post later...hopefully.

pionikclass

Ok ok, this is lame I know. But as you can see, I learned about adding glow, color, framing, adding um that silhouette-y thing, and text. See? Increased potential...

The Showing of Beautiful Fashion and Design

With great anticipation I announce the upcoming show by Yula Finesmith of Finesmith Jewelry. Variation and Inspiring.  In preparation of this blog I had the honor of being invited to watch one of the 2 rehearsals for the show.  All I can say is WOW and I mean that in the biggest form and letters as possible.

Saying goodbye to this season of fashion is being done in a way that says goodbye to Summer and HELLO to Fall all in one amazing show.  With beautiful models such as Katherine Comet, Lybra Rage and so many more along with the amazing designs by the talented Yula Finesmith, this show will blow your mind!  The vibrancy of metal and glimmer of stone captures your eye as you watch these gems dance along the runway.

Priceless Gems

Through a diamond-leaded window
grows a magnificent ruby rose
towering higher than all others
and gently swaying to and fro.

Above the rose in nature’s glory
are amber tints of rarest hue…
a painting by a heavenly master
on wide backcloth of sapphire blue.

Autumn shines like ‘eighteen carat’,
its lustrous radiance fills the air;
beyond a diamond-leaded window
is jewellery for the world to wear.

How splendid are the verdant emeralds
which late adorn October trees,
and crystal stars which soon will gather
from nature’s jewellery box of dreams.

Earthly value could never be counted
in pounds or dollars, or even in gold
for these fine jewels belong to nature
‘priceless gems’ from days of old.

Joyce Hemsley

She says it all, how splendid are the verdant emeralds and crystal stars!  The sun rises as the show begins and sets as the show closes saying goodbye to the fashions of the season.  Though as the show closes Yula introduces a sneak peak of the magnificent use of gems and metals. So keep your eyes peeled and your imagination open as the next season approaches, bringing us more precious jewels to don.

With the close of the show on Saturday you will be invited to participate in the 50% off sale.  What?!  YES!  You heard me correct, Yula is having a 50% off sale.  SO be sure to come and get some of the greatest jewelry designs before they are gone forever.

With the start of a new season the fashion world will be in a frenzy but be sure to take the extra bit of time it will take you to get over to Finesmith Jewelry on October 1st to see the new Fall line and get your favorite pieces to add to your own collection and don’t forget the show!

*smiles happily as her eyes gaze upon the shiney’s!*
